![]() With lots and lots of twists and turns, red herrings galore Elise takes us on a wonderful rollercoaster. This book follows on from book 1 when Lily's sister Rose is murdered in a strange attack. Then we meet Lily the fashion designer who handmakes beautiful corsets and her side kick Suki. In this Blackwood UK book we meet Max, the moody security guard who works out of the Blackwood London office. Another great installment in the Blackwood UK series. Highly recommended reading if you want characters you'll love, and non-stop reading enjoyment. Fast paced, full of action, mystery, romance and a dash of humour, I couldn't put this book down. You felt like you got to know each one personally. The variety of characters was great as were the descriptions of them. I loved seeing the development of the characters, especially of Max who started out such a grump and self-professed a$$hole. There may have been bribery involved (kinky use of a handmade corset and underwear from Lily's shop if Nye could convince Max to help out). A friend of Sukis - Olivia (who we met in previous books in the Blackwood UK series) convinces Nye to get a fellow Blackwood bodyguard to keep Lily safe. Lily and her friend Suki run a specialist lingerie shop where they produce hand made corsets etc. Unfortunately the killer isn't taking any chances and wants to get rid of her too. ![]() Lily has lost her memory after being thrown off a balcony and doesnt remember witnessing her sister's murder. Just goes to prove behind every male is a stronger female, even when it is the Queen of the Bitches herself, Emmy Black. What I do love is that the characters both male and females all have their own quirky traits and backgrounds and true love is discovered along the path to solving the deathly concerns that affect the female lead of Lily. Funny how all these tough exterior testerone fuelled guys find their perfect matches so darn quickly perhaps that is what happens when faced with a deadly threat! In all honesty I finished one book then went straight onto the next in the series because I simply could not and did not want to finish. *I reviewed an advanced copy of this book but all of my thoughts, feelings, and opinions about this book are solely my own*Īfter having read Author Elise Noble's other series based around the US side of the company I wasn't sure I could fall in love with any other characters but enthusiastically I can say I have! The UK based Blackwood series is equally enjoyable with some even more entertaining characters and not just the young athletic ones but the eccentric 70 year old ones we see in a couple of titles. Each time she releases a new one I clear my schedule and shoo everyone away so I can snuggle on the couch and read until I have a well earned, satisfying book coma. Every book Elise puts out is innovative, poignant and heart felt mixed in with hold onto your pants action and grab your ribs and fall off the couch laughter. As with every Elise Noble book that I have ever read I was immediately sucked in and a sizzling action packed journey. Is that even a word? If it isn't, it should be if for no other reason than to pay homage to the awesomeness of this book. I completely adored this book and all of it's spectacularness. It was completely worth the wait, as always. I was thrilled to read the new exciting installment of the Blackwood UK series. NOTE TO READERS: Roses are Dead is Book 2 in the Blackwood UK Series, which is NOT part of the Blackwood Security Series however, some characters (like Emmy & Nye) do make an appearance! YAY! Also, as this is Book 2 in the Blackwood UK series, there are British words (for example: jumper instead of sweater) and British spellings in this book (like favourite), of course! I personally think, as a US reader, that this makes this book and series, delightful! :) ![]() ![]() Of course, I want a Suki & Jason book next! If I could, I’d give this book 10 Stars!!! Also, Roses are Dead weaves in a few of the Blackwood Security Series characters, like Emmy & Nye, so reading that series before or after Roses are Dead is also highly recommended! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. I highly recommend reading all the books in the series, in order, for maximum enjoyment, but each book really can be read as a stand-alone. Roses are Dead is a romantic suspense novel in the Blackwood UK series but it can be read as a standalone novel. Lily needs protection, but can’t afford Blackwood Security’s exorbitant prices to protect her, so her best friend Suki calls in a favor and Max moves in! When Lily wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what happened to her, she discovers the worst news ever… that her sister is dead and she was most likely a witness, but she can’t remember anything. Roses are Dead is one more reason why Elise is the Queen of Romantic Suspense! Lily and Max are an unlikely pairing, yet they are perfect for each other… they just need to figure that out for themselves.
